I believe strongly that every person in the world has a truly unique story comprised of their own unique experiences and world view. I think it is important to share these stories. It is cathartic to tell people the honest truth about who you are. It is valuable to learn the stories of people other than yourself. In some wonderful situations, the right story hits the right person at the right time and can truly change a life.
One of the most amazing things about Crochet Saved My Life was how many terrific people came forward to share their stories with me about how crafting had helped them heal. They shared intimate details about very difficult times in their lives. As an author I felt honored to be entrusted with sharing these stories. I continue to offer a safe space for people who want to share their stories. In fact, I offer a couple of different options.
- Write your story the way you want it to appear on the blog.If you want to be anonymous or use a pseudonym instead of your real name, make sure that you say that. I believe that we are all in different stages of healing and different stages of openness so share what is comfortable for you.
- Email it to me (kathryn.vercillo on gmail).
- If you want people to be able to contact you through a website or email, make sure you include that information.
- Be aware that it may take a little while for me to review and post your story on the blog. If I have follow-up questions I’ll let you know. If not, I’ll send you a link when it goes live.

Another way to share your story with others is to join the Crochet Saved My Life group on Ravelry. Join up and then introduce yourself in the “introductions” chapter, which is a great place to start sharing your story. Connect with others there who have been through similar experiences and who also love crafting.
